Background:

Duddingston is a non-denominational, co-educational school, which caters for pupils from nursery to primary 7. The school is located close to the Duddingston Crossroads on the east side of the city. The school was opened in 1958 and consists of a single-storey block, which comprises four classrooms. This is joined by the administrative block to the entrance hall which in turn gives access to the well-appointed school hall. A three-storey block which consists of nine classrooms, a music room, information technology room, learning support teacher's room and general purpose room is the final part of the main building. The school has generous playground facilities, which apart from separate tarmac areas for senior and infant pupils also boasts a well-maintained playing field and other grassed areas. The school aims to develop positive school ethos which promotes a happy yet purposeful atmosphere and high expectations.
